GYUMRI WALKING TOUR

Gyumri is famous for its unique and indigenous 18th-19th century architecture, influenced by different cultures. Discover the city of the most hospitable people and authentic traditions. Gyumri walking tour will help you discover more of the historic flavor of Armenia and the lifestyle Gyumri.

 

HIKING TOUR

Hike to the mountain range located in the north-eastern part of Shirak region. Canoe tours, hiking tours and bicycling tours are offered for you to choose during the summer or winter times. The tours will go through beautiful landscapes and deep canyons as well as many interesting villages.


YERERUYK BASILIC

Tour to Yereruyk basilica, not far from the ancient Armenian capital of Ani, located on the left side of Akhuryan River. This is one of the earliest Christian monuments built in the 4th century and as included in the UNESCO’s tentative list in 1991.

 
 

WINE TASTIN TOUR

On this tour we will be permitted to see a private collection of rare Soviet glass and to learn about the history surrounding this collection. We will also sample several wines produced by Caucasian Bouquet. These wines are the result of collaboration between Azerbaijan, Gerogia and Armenia and represent the unique and delicious flavors of these three countries. Finally, participants will view a private exhibition of the most provocative, influential and rare propaganda posters of the Soviet times.

 

CUISINE TOUR

This tour is an amazing opportunity to taste dishes cooked with methods that are coming from the depth of centuries. Shirak province is famous for its dishes cooked with local plants and herbs and this is a unique chance to experience Shirak’s flavour.

 

 

MARMASHEN MONASTERY TOUR

The monastic complex Marmashen is located on a shelf overlooking the left bank of the Akhurian River, 15km northwest of Gyumri. The complex was built between 986 and 1029 by Price Vahram Pahlavuni and was the cultural and scientific center during the 10th century.

 

HARICHAVANK MONASTERY TOUR

The Harichavnaq monastery (7-11 centuries) is located in one of the oldest villages of Shirak region, the Harich village. This is one of the biggest monastic complexes in Armenia. An ancient cemetery and one of the oldest cross stones in the area dating back to the 7th century are located nearby the monastery.



SPIRITUALITY AND RELIGIOUS TOUR

Shirak region will amaze you with its religious monuments scattered around the area. Since Gyumri is the birthplace of a mystic philosopher George Ivanovich Gurdjieff, there are many fascinating places that you can choose to visit according to Mr. Gurdjieff’s writings.

 

 

SARNAGHBYUR TOUR

Visit the isolation cave of the Gregory the Illuminator and drink the coldest water believed to have healing powers.



LMBATAVANK TOUR

lmbatavankLmbatavank monastery is a 7th century monument. This is where the prophet Ezekiel’s vision of God mural has partly been preserved from the depth of centuries. There are also frescos of St. Sargis and St. George on the interior walls. This monastery is known as a pilgrimage site because of its unique healing powers.
